The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) provides a comprehensive and robust evidence base on flood risk issues, using the best information available.

This supports our review of the Chelmsford Local Plan and associated Planning Policy documents.

The main sources of flood risk in Chelmsford are fluvial (rivers), sea (coastal) and surface water.

If you click on the links and open the maps in a browser, they may not work.

Instead, you need to right-click on the link and choose 'Save link as...', to download the map to your device. You can then open it from the saved location using Adobe Acrobat, which will give you the full functionality.

Some maps may take a little while to open and display the layers as they are quite large.

If you do not have it on your computer, you can download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

We have produced a Level 2 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment Addendum and some site tables and maps for relevant sites in the Focused Consultation Additional Sites (Regulation 19) Document.

We have also updated site tables and surface water mapping for GS1r Garage Site, St Nazaire Road, Chelmsford and SGS7b Land East of London Road, Great Leighs.
