Join us this October half term for a very close look at our collection. Explore ancient artefacts and geology in microscopic detail – what patterns and secrets will you discover?

Our sessions will include:

  • Objects from our collections and beyond
  • Handheld microscopes and magnifying glasses to get up close and look at the tiny details we normally miss
  • Colouring-in and a trail

Our Museum Under the Microscope week has been programmed alongside ARU's popular Chelmsford Science Festival, which this year takes place over 22 to 29 October. The festival will feature a range of interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and engaging talks from experts in their fields.

Sessions are free but must be booked in advance, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. All sessions are suitable for ages 6+ years, though we think adults in attendance will have a great time too!
