History Heroes: Saxons Week

Discover the Saxon period, where History Hero Gem is from! This superhero uses her powers to move objects and has been known to construct buildings for her Anglo Saxon community in Broomfield! Through our own collections of fascinating objects, you’ll be able to explore more about what we know about that time, and what you can learn in the present day. Learn about Saxon runes and riddles, learn to weave and how Saxon's dyed wool, create your own Saxon brooch to wear, handle real and replica objects and dress up like a Saxon!

We’ll provide the materials and inspiration from our own Saxon collection; you just need to bring your creativity and an adult to help you.

Activities are suitable for ages over 6 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult, who can attend for free, including entry to the museum.

Admission: One free adult per child/attendee, additional adults pay the museum admission fee of £4 unless they hold a membership.

Parking: Parking at the museum is free for up to 2 hours. Attendees of paid 2-hour holiday events can collect an additional 1-hour parking permit from the front desk.
