Have your say
Would you like to see more of what you like? We would love to hear from you to help shape our museum activities for the future.
Friends of Chelmsford Museum
The Friends of Chelmsford Museums is an association which was formed in 1990 to raise money and to support the various activities of Chelmsford Museums. It became a registered charity in 2004 and is a member of the British Association of Friends of Museums. Find out more about the Friends and how to join them.
Donations
We welcome donations, however the cost of caring for our collection is high. It is important that we do not duplicate material and that any objects that we accept meet the criteria of our Collections Policy. We cannot accept everything offered to us.
How to make a donation
Contact the museum in writing, or by phone to make an appointment with a member of the Curatorial and Learning Team. It would be helpful if you can send a picture of the object that you wish to donate before arriving at the museum.
The museum will not accept:
- items that do not meet the criteria of our Collections Policy
- items brought into the museum without a prior appointment being made
- items offered on long term loan
- any items that may be hazardous to staff or visitors
If we are not able to accept your donation we will always try to suggest an alternative recipient.
If you would like to make a bequest, contact us. Day to day donations can be made at one of our donation boxes at the museum.
