Following the success of the inaugural event in 2024, we our holding our second Concrete Canvas walk on Thursday 6 February 2025, which is also ‘Time to Talk’ day.
Come and join us to see the best of street artwork around Chelmsford City Centre! This walk is all about bringing arts, cultural, health and mental wellbeing together.
This gentle walk will start at the Marconi Plaza located next to the Civic Theatre.
Our friendly walk leaders, Health Champions, Mental Health First Aiders and cycle marshals will guide walkers to see the artwork all across the City centre. The walk is approximately 5km and you can download a map of the route.
Please meet at 12pm on Thursday 6 February 2025 in the Marconi Plaza. There will be a briefing at 12.20pm and the walk will leave promptly at 12.30pm
We suggest a £5 donation per person, which goes to the Mayor's chosen charity. You need to pay on arrival, but you will need to bring the correct money, as no change is available.
This walk meets outside on the Marconi Plaza near to the Civic Theatre, Fairfield Road, Chelmsford CM1 1JG.
By bus
The meeting point is located behind Chelmsford bus station, so all main buses will run to this location.
Cycle
You can view the ECC cycling maps for routes that run from the City Centre.
By car
You can park in many central City Centre car parks and walk to the meeting point. Please go to www.chelmsford.gov.uk/parking to locate the closest car parks to the meeting point.
- Make sure you wear comfortable, sensible shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather.
- We provide a high-visibility wristband for all walkers; these must be worn at all times throughout the walk.
- Our team of leaders will be leading and back marking the walk. There are cycle marshals to help keep you on track. If you get lost at any point, please wait for a leader to catch up to you before continuing. Please do not walk ahead of the front leaders (the back markers are there to walk at the pace of the slowest walkers, so there is no need to rush).
- If at any time during the walk you wish to leave, please notify a leader that you are doing so.
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Adults are responsible for children under their care at all times. If you find a lost child, please tell a leader or marshal immediately.
- You will be able to purchase refreshments from the café within the Theatre building before and after the walk.
- No dogs are allowed on this walk, only guide dogs or therapy dogs.
- Toilets will be located in the Civic Theatre, with accessible toilets inside the building.
