Outdoor athletics facilities

Our facilities boast a floodlit 8-lane synthetic all-weather 400m outdoor track with a full range of field event facilities. We also have many indoor facilities including:

• a six lane 60m sprint straight 
• long jump practice areas 
• triple jump practice areas 
• high jump practice areas 
• pole vault practice areas
• throws practice area

We offer both outdoor and indoor athletics, so you can train all year round. You can use the track within public session to practice your running, throwing and jumping skills or hire our athletics facilities for specific training sessions.

Gym

Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre offers a state-of-the-art gym which is fully furnished with the latest Technogym equipment. It includes two designated free weight areas and a functional training zone. 

Views over the outdoor athletics track ensures plenty of natural light to achieve a motivating environment for all. A dedicated team of fitness professionals are available to challenge, guide and motivate you to help achieve your exercise goals.

Exercise studios  

Our two modern, spacious studios cater for our huge range of different exercise classes using state of the art equipment.

They are located on the first floor (studio one) and the ground floor (studio two); we have a lift located at the end of the corridor next to the athletics track, which allows access to studio one. 

Both our studios are also available for hire.

Physiotherapy 

At Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre, you can access physiotherapy services through Ascenti.

Sports hall

The sports hall at Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre is capable of mixed simultaneous use.

It hosts a wide range of activities including badminton, basketball and table tennis.

The centre's sports hall facilities also enable other sports to be played including 5-a-side football, gymnastics, trampolining and indoor bowls. These are available for hire on a casual and block booking basis.

Accessibility 

CSAC is fully accessible with ramp and lift access throughout the centre. Our centre has a sloped ramp for entrance and exit, with no barrier, to ensure easy wheelchair entrance and exit. Our reception desk is multi-level to allow easy access for all users. We have wide access and entry and exit routes throughout the centre.

The centre has level floors all around the ground floor, and easy access male and female changing rooms, including an accessible change and a Changing Places unit. The Changing Places unit is accessible by radar key; alternatively, please ask at reception if you need to use this.
