Netball

Riverside Leisure Centre has an indoor netball court, which is available to book on a pay as you go basis or as a regular block booking.

Attending

• If you have booked, you can tap straight through the barrier with your ourChelmsford card, sticker, fob or wristband.  
• If you need to pay for your court you will need to go to reception to pay and activate your ourChelmsford card.  
• If you have forgotten your card you will need to collect a barcode from reception or a kiosk to get through the barriers.  
• If you require use of the lift to access the first floor, you will need to go to reception to activate your ourChelmsford card. 

Lockers and changing rooms

• There is a male group changing area and a female group changing area located by studio 2 on the first floor on your way to the sports hall. 
• A Changing Places area is located by studio 1 on the first floor.   
• Lockers are located in the changing rooms by studio 2. If you want to use a locker in the changing rooms, you will need a £1 coin to release the key. You will get the £1 back when you return the key.

You can hire the whole hall for a full court match on our indoor court at CSAC. 

Court bookings start on the hour and are for 55 minutes.

These adults-only fun indoor sessions will get your heart pumping and improve your team skills.

Our netball training sessions held on a Monday and Wednesday are for all abilities, from beginners to experienced players. Session cover ball handling skills, fluidity, movement, defence, attacking play and game play, giving you the chance to start playing again in a fun and friendly environment.

These small sessions are limited to 20 people and will include a small game at the end, as per current netball guidance, lead by out experienced instructor.

These sessions are not suitable for those below 18 years of age.

We are organising netball courses for juniors and adults who want to get into the sport for th first time, or return to it after some time away.

Junior ‘Come and Try Netball’ (10 to 15 years)

Never played netball before? Come and try your hand with a qualified coach to help show you the positions, learn about the game, get moving and make friends. 

The course runs every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm. The next available course runs from Wednesday 23 April to Wednesday 21 May 2025.

We can accommodate eight participants across two courts, but we may be able to add more places if we get enough interest.

The course costs £15 per person.

Adult ‘Get Back into Netball’ sessions (16+)

Want to try something new or used to play netball and want to get back into activity without joining a team? Then this is for you! Whatever your ability, come along and try you hand at netball.

The course runs every Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm. The next available course runs from Wednesday 23 April to Wednesday 21 May 2025.

We have space for up to 14 participants across two courts.

The course costs £15 per person.

We recommend that you book our sports hall activities in advance. You may be able to get a slot on the door, however we cannot guarantee availability.

You can:

• book by calling the centre   
• book when you visit the centre

You can book: 

• seven days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Premium or Plus card
• two days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Lite

Cancellations

If you want to cancel your booking, you need to cancel at least 24 hours before it starts either online or by calling the centre. We will charge you the full amount for the class if you do not cancel in time, or if you do not attend.
