Navigating the New Year at our leisure centres

With the busy post-Christmas period on the horizon, we've put together a handy Navigating the New Year guide to help you get the most out of your membership in 2025.

Short bursts of activity, followed by periods of rest will get you burning calories and strengthening your body.

This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.

The minimum age for classes is 14 year old, but classes marked with a * are for over 16s only.

Body attack 

Body attack is a high-energy cardio class. This program combines movements like running, lunging, and jumping while improving strength by including exercises like push-ups and squats. This class is great for individuals of all fitness levels, as all moves can be adapted.

GRIT and Core

GRIT and Core is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout program that consists of three separate classes: strength, athletic, and cardio. Mixed up every week by our motivating instructors, you’ll know you’ve worked hard in this class!

HIIT and Core

HIIT and Core is a great option for a full body workout. Incorporating cardio, strength and core work, the intervals allow you opportunities to work to your max followed my periods of rest. Instructors ensure options are offered so the class is inclusive for all levels of fitness. HIIT is a great option if you like to push yourself!

Les Mills Tone

If you want the optimal mix of strength, cardio and core training, this is it. Step into a Les Mills Tone class and you'll tick off a complete workout in 45 minutes. The challenging mix of lunges, squats, functional training and tubing exercises will help you burn calories and take your fitness to the next level. Also a great foundational class, Les Mills Tone has a wide variety of options accommodating all fitness levels ensuring everyone leaves the workout feeling successful.

Our exercise classes are very popular, we advise booking in advance. 

You can:  

You can book onto classes: 

  • ten days in advance if you have a monthly membership  
  • seven days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Plus card     
  • two days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Lite card
  • You will need to book a session in advance to guarantee your space.
  • If you do not check-in, we will charge you the full amount for the session.
  • Please make sure that you have registered your email address with us in order to book online.
  • If you can't attend a class that you have booked onto, you must cancel at least two hours before it starts.
  • You can cancel online or via the app, by calling 01245 615050 or in person. 
  • We will charge you the full amount for the class if you do not cancel in time, or if you do not attend.
  • You will need to collect a ticket from reception when you arrive for your class.  
  • Monthly members can swipe through the barrier and register their attendance. 
  • You will not be allowed entrance to any class if it has already started.  
  • To allow time for changeovers, classes will finish five minutes before the advertised time.  
  • If you want to use a locker on poolside, you will need a £1 coin to release the key. You will get the £1 back when you return the key.   
  • There is a male group changing area and a female group changing area located on poolside. 
  • Accessible changing facilities are located on poolside.
  • The pools complex, including the changing area is a shoe-free zone, this includes the removal of flip flops.
