Pre-employment check guidance
If you are successful after your interview with us, we will contact you to make a conditional offer. This is subject to you passing all pre-employment checks.
We do these checks for all positions, as part of our Safer Recruitment practise. They help us ensure there are no reasons why you should not carry out the role you applied for. Some checks are specific to the role, such as if you have contact with children or young people.
Our pre-employment checks include:
Right to Work
We need proof of your Right to Work documents, to comply with Home Office Regulations. The recruiting manager will verify your documents.
Placement Health Questionnaire
You must complete a Placement Health Questionnaire so that we are:
- aware of any health conditions you have
- able to make reasonable adjustments to support you
References
We request references from the most recent two years of your employment or education history. In some circumstances, we may also request a HMRC five-year employment history to verify your previous employment.
We do not accept references from friends or family members.
Essential qualifications and memberships
If a qualification or membership is essential for a role, we will check you hold the relevant qualification or membership.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and overseas checks
If we need a DBS check for your role, we will ask you to provide acceptable ID documents for the check. This is an online check and we will give you guidance to help you complete it.
Getting your start date
We will contact you to arrange a start date after we have successfully completed the pre-employment checks.
