Christmas opening hours

During the Christmas period, we are operating a reduced out of hours stray dog service.

The service will stop at midday on 24 and 31 December.

The service will be unavailable on 25 December, 26 December and 1 January.

We will take enforcement action against owners who do not clear up after their dog.

To report dog fouling, you will need:

  • your name, address and contact details
  • where the problem is located
  • any further information that you think is relevant
  • photos or evidence of the problem, if you have it

To report a dog owner for not clearing up after their dog, you will need:

  • your name, address and contact details
  • the date and time you witnessed or became aware of the dog fouling
  • the street name and a description of the location where the dog fouling occurs
  • a description of the dog
  • a description of the owner

How we deal with dog fouling

Once we receive your report of dog fouling, we will:

  • make contact with the owner, if you know who they are
  • use the information you provide to carry out patrols in the area

If the dog owner does not clear up after their dog, we will give them a fixed penalty notice. If they don’t pay the fixed penalty notice, we will take them to court.

You can download our Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for dog fouling.
