Caravan and camping sites
You need a licence if you operate a residential caravan or camping site in the Chelmsford area.
You can look at GOV.UK for information about who needs a licence, licence restrictions and the penalties for operating without one.
To apply for a licence, you will need to:
- download and fill in your application form
- upload your completed application form
- pay the correct fee
Please wait message
If you seeing a 'Please wait...' message when viewing the application form, it means you are opening the document in a browser, rather than in dedicated Adobe software. You can read our guidance on how to open the application form.
Fee
The fee you will need to pay depends on the size of your site.
You can download our fees policy to check how much you need to pay. You can also check our fees for fit and proper persons tests.
After you apply
Once we receive your application, we will notify you of our decision within three months.
If we grant your licence, it will be valid unless you surrender it or we revoke it.
Although you do not need to renew your licence each year, you will need to pay an annual fee. You will need to pay the fee on the same date as when we granted your licence.
Transfer or change your licence
If you want to transfer your licence from one licence holder to another or make any changes to your licence, you need to:
- download and complete your application form
- upload your completed application form
- pay the correct fee
Once we receive your application, we will notify you of our decision.
Mobile home fit and proper person
If you own or manage a mobile home site, you must be a fit and proper person to manage the site.
You must apply to us for inclusion in our public register of fit and proper persons.
Buying a park home
If you are looking to buy a park home, you should read the GOV.UK guidance before making a commitment.
