Waste sampling survey by Essex County Council
Essex County Council want to understand what people in Essex are putting in their general waste. They will therefore be carrying out a household waste composition analysis across Essex.
This means they have commissioned a company called Alfred H Knight to take samples of waste from black wheelie bins. They will be doing this between Thursday 14 November 2024 and Wednesday 11 December 2024.
The information will help ECC plan waste services for the future, and help them to support households to reduce waste and recycle more. In turn, this will reduce both the financial and environmental cost of managing Essex’s waste.
The samples will be anonymised, so no one will be able to identify your household as part of the study. The crew will safely and securely dispose of the waste, but you can refuse the crew from taking a sample from your bin if you wish.
If you have any queries, you can contact Essex County Council on 0345 743 0430 from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.
